Do not speak badly of yourself. For the warrior within hears your words and is lessened by them!

Negative self-talk can be conscious or unconscious. When it has become unconscious, it is because you have become accustomed to your own voice degrading your self, justifying the negative thoughts that you have and accepting and allowing the negative voice of others into your soul. I spoke at great length to a friend where negative spoken words over them from childhood to and through adulthood had come to a point where they could no longer deal with it.

I am reminded of who Christ says we are, His children, beloved, apple of His eye, joint heirs, the head not the tail and we are more than conquerors. Jesus loves us lavishly and it is not earned, rather it is freely given to those who accept it. When we know Him He gives us our identity, His attributes are placed within us and nothing changes that, we just have to seek Him and allow His love to envelop us, so that there is no room left to deny that we are the object of His love.

Accepting love maybe difficult from Jesus if you view Him as one that deceives, is out to get you or has bad intentions towards you. Yet, scripture tells us He is none of those things, in fact it is the opposite! He has plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jer 29:11). He gives us sleep (Psalm 127) where we can rest knowing He takes care of us. He calls us friend (John 15:15), we are more than conquerors (Rom 8:37-39), He has great love for us (Eph 2:4-5) and He rejoices over us with gladness (Zep 3:17).

Yes, He rejoices over us with gladness and we are the object of His love and when we accept that, we can know we are accepted and loved by the One who is love. This allows us to reject negative self-talk or other damaging thoughts or words that come our way. The warrior will reject what is not of God and you can stand firm in the love of God. Practice allowing His love into your soul, mind, body and spirt. Practice by reminding yourself of these scriptures, by taking time to be good to yourself, doing your favorite hobbies and by thinking of how God sees you!

You are the object of His love!
